My name is Kobe Lambeth! I am 21 years old and currently a senior at UNC Charlotte, studying Communications (mass media concentration) and minoring in Journalism. I am familiar with various disciplines of motorsports worldwide such as NASCAR, IndyCar, Formula 1, Formula E, IMSA, FIA WEC, European Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Series and more.
Motorsports has been my passion since age 7. It started on a cold, winter day in Feb. 2007. I was in my bedroom on a boring Sunday afternoon flipping through some channels on the television. All of a sudden, I came across the 2007 Daytona 500. From flag to flag, I watched my first full NASCAR race and have been hooked ever since that magical day. Over the years, I have fallen in love with open-wheel racing, sports car racing, and dirt racing too.
I enjoy playing video games (Motorsports/Madden NFL/NBA 2K), relaxing, watching sports and sharing my passion for motorsports with others! Racing related video games on PlayStation is definitely one of my favorites. Getting to experience multiple series in a virtual world has truly been a wonderful experience. In my opinion, you are never too old to play video games.
My favorite meal: fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, broccoli, jelly biscuits, and sweet tea (It's a southern thing). I enjoy watching football and basketball at the college and professional level when I am not focusing on motorsports. My favorite team in college sports are the North Carolina Tar Heels, but I still have much school pride for the Charlotte 49ers. Let's go Niner Nation! The majority of my family root for "The Heels," so I decided to join the bandwagon at an early age. In the NFL, I am a huge Carolina Panthers fan! When life gets tough you should always "Keep Pounding." I cheer for the Los Angeles Lakers (RIP Kobe) and the Charlotte Hornets (Send help) in the NBA. Also, I have been playing the clarinet since the sixth grade and been a participant in Marching/Concert/All-County Bands.
During my early years of high school, I wanted to be a mechanical engineer working on race cars. Sometimes, we have to take a step back and be honest with ourselves. Math and science have not always been my strengths as a student, so why go pursue a career where I am likely to struggle significantly? Joining my school's robotics team my sophomore year made me realize that engineering is definitely not in my wheelhouse. This left me back at square one wondering what to do following graduation in June 2017 from Reidsville High School in my hometown of Reidsville, North Carolina.
One morning in October of 2015 before school, I read the early morning news from motorsports-based websites. At that very moment, I thought "Living life as a motorsports journalist must be a wonderful experience. They go to work and cover the sport they love." I felt stupid for wanting to be an engineer, while I could use one of my talents (writing/imagination) to my advantage.
By the end of October, I found work on a website and I wrote my first set of racing related articles. However, I decided it was best for me to develop writing skills at my own pace as I launched Daily NASCAR Scoop and More in late 2015. Overall, I have significantly exceeded my expectations. I never expected to watch myself grow up in mere words. Daily NASCAR Scoop and More truly launched my adventure into the world of journalism. As a journalist, I will take the job very seriously as a true professional by setting a good example for others, providing breaking news, analysis, feature stories and adding value to the sport.
Today, I work for The Podium Finish as a motorsports journalist and serve as co-host of GRID Live on YouTube with Joe Samaniego.
Occupations:
Editor/Writer for Daily NASCAR Scoop and More (Dec. 2015-June 2017)
Freelancer for RockinghamNow (June 2017-May 2019)
Journalist for The Podium Finish (March 2018-Present)
UNC Charlotte Social Media Team (Nov. 2019-March 2020)
Co-Host of GRID Live (May 2020-Present)
